In alignment with the FOP philosophy of creating a peaceful environment, these norms are established for the meetings of the Parent Advisory Group to create a climate of caring in which all PAG members feel safe, respected, included, and free to participate. These meeting norms will support us in doing our best work on behalf of our Open Plan students, teachers, and community.
We will value each person.
We will communicate respectfully with others.
We will listen to each other without interruption or side-talk.
We will wait to be recognized by the Chair before speaking, per Robert's Rules of Order.
We will explain reasoning and intent when making decisions.
We will allow for different perspectives and work toward mutual understanding with an open mind.
We will allow for our own assumptions to be tested.
We will practice respectful confrontation with an understanding that conflict within groups is normal and presents opportunities for personal growth.
We will be helpful in speech and actions.
We will refrain from making personal attacks on others.
We will take responsibility and be accountable for our own feelings, views, and behavior.
We will share all relevant information and refrain from spreading rumors or gossip.
We will listen to get smarter and stay curious; because we are better together.
We agree that all members in attendance are responsible for helping each other embody these meeting norms.
We invite members to see these as norms for their interactions in meetings and throughout the FOP community.
