I’m very excited about joining the Fremont Open Plan teaching staff. I’ve enjoyed spending the past 6 years teaching kindergarten for Modesto City Schools and look forward to partnering with Sarah and the entire community here at Fremont School. I received my teaching credential through California State University, Stanislaus and have been teaching with Modesto City Schools for 14 years.

My husband, Randy, and I have been part of the Open Plan community since the year 2000. We have built many lasting relationships over the years here at Fremont School. Mitchell, my older son, is now 13 and has moved on to Roosevelt Junior High School where he has pursued his interests in music and sports. My younger son, Maxwell will be starting in the upper department this year. Maxwell is looking forward to all the “cool” experiences he will be having in the upper department the next couple of years. Spending time with my family is very important to me. We enjoy camping with family and friends. One of our favorite destinations is Yosemite, but we also enjoy the coast. We like to sing around the campfire and at home…often creating our own silly lyrics. We also enjoy local theater, music, biking, board games, and movies.

I am very excited to be a part of the Open Plan teaching staff.  I have worked for Modesto City Schools for 6 years.  I was a Latchkey teacher at Everett for 5 years and completed my student teaching at Everett in their kindergarten program.  During 2006-2007 school year I taught first grade in Turlock. Last year I  returned  to Modesto City Schools to teach a new preschool program which co-enrolled state preschool students and deaf and hard of hearing students.  It was very exciting watching all of the students eager to learn sign language and share their new language with their families.

My husband is my high school sweetheart and we have two fun, energetic children.  My daughter Malia is almost 5 and my son is 1 1/2 years old.  I love to read and enjoy sharing my love of reading with my children.   We love to travel and some of our favorite destinations are Lake Tahoe, Mendocino and Disneyland.   I look forward to getting to know all of my students and their families over the next year.
